Judgment Day

Previously stretching far behind,
His past now crowds around him.
Snapping at his heels,
And whispering long forgotten memories,
Into his mind.

Arguments that lay deep for many years,
Pull like lobster traps,
Tethered from the bottom of the ocean.

Regrets of decisions,
Simmer to the surface,
Ready for the boil.

And rolling around,
And back and forth,
Are the doubts,
That forgiveness will be served,
On Judgment Day.

The Jelley Cupboard
Poems About Life, Death, and Other Sticky Stuff

This poetry collection delves into three areas, firstly Life, about vacations, English roots and new love, secondly Death inspired from many years as a hospice nurse, and thirdly Sticky Stuff, poems about relationships, communication and things from the dark corners of the cupboard. Dawn has a unique ability to vividly capture situations and experiences into poetry that is reachable by all. Ranging from the harsh reality of death, to the whimsical light hearted, there is indeed something here for everyone.

“Dear Dawn
Thank you so much for “the Jelley Cupboard” it truly is a gift from your heart. Your expression of every experience is our experience also. We have all shared the same tears, joy and sadness, tugging of the heart strings and memories. Thank you for remembering us and being a part of all whose paths you crossed.”

“Dawn’s writing and sense of humor hit it right on the mark. Her depiction of end-of-life issues, in this heartfelt poetry and drawing, capture the best and worst of the dying experience. When people are able to sit and read, during their own process or through the loss of a loved one, this book will move and inspire them. I highly recommend it to patient, family member, and hospice staff person alike.”
-Rabbi Lev Baesh, member of the Ethics Board, Seacoast Hospice, NH-
